Please note that Wild Meadows offers out of pocket rates for psychotherapy services. If you’d prefer to use insurance, I provide psychotherapy services through Orchestra X and can take Quartz insurance at this time.

In the intake session, whether virtual or in person, you can expect to review paperwork and ask any questions you may have. The focus is on getting to know you and your story, which of course is more complicated than an hour’s worth of time! We may review your current lifestyle, family history, medical history, history within therapy, and much more. Spilling your guts to a stranger can be a lot, so you can share as much or as little as you’d prefer as we get to know each other. The intake is a great way to get a sense of what you’re hoping for out of therapy and start to establish a game plan.

I'm physically located in Madison, Wisconsin and have two options for offices if you'd prefer in person sessions.
Telehealth is also an option - as long as you're in the state of Wisconsin!
A hybrid approach can be discussed as well, if you’d like to alternate between telehealth and in person sessions.

Insurance coverage is often a very necessary factor for mental health care and accessibility. However, there are many reasons why self-pay may be a better option for your individual circumstances. I’ve included a few more details on why we don’t take insurance.
Diagnosing.
Now, before I go any further, don’t get me wrong…diagnosis is often a critical aspect of treatment and can pave the way to proper treatment, care, and understanding. However, insurance companies often require a diagnosis in the first session to ensure coverage. I believe a diagnosis process should be a comprehensive, collaborative conversation between you and your therapist. Wild Meadows values YOU as the ultimate expert of your experience.
Medical Model.
A medical version of mental health can mean a strong focus on symptom reduction, pathologizing the human experience and can potentially open the door for stigma & discrimination.
For example, grief/loss is a significant, and unfortunately necessary, part of being human. It should be encouraged to connect to community, reach out for help, and receive support in a time of mourning. Unfortunately, we’re in a system that requires a diagnosis for coverage for this very normal human experience.C-PTSD.
A significant amount of the work that Wild Meadows focuses on is in the world of Complex PTSD. C-PTSD treatment often incorporates mind-body approaches, & holistic care. As of recently, C-PTSD was finally recognized by the World Health Organization and is included in the ICD-11 diagnosis disorder list. However, the diagnostic manual utilized in the United States has not yet recognized this diagnosis.
Human-Centered.
One of the top priorities of Wild Meadows is to create a space for YOU. Being a therapist doesn’t mean that I have all or any of the answers, and you won’t hear me provide advice or solutions because we all have that person in our lives that will not hold back on giving their solutions to our problems. Our sessions are flexible to your needs, whether they’re in person, online, weekly, monthly, etc. Not taking insurance provides us the flexibility to cater sessions to your needs, not what insurance says they’ll cover.
Honestly, I could go on for days with many other reasons, but for the sake of your time - I’ll leave it at that.
